CAPLAN, Sonny (Julius) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sonny Caplan on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Shalom Village. Predeceased by Ethel, his beloved soulmate and wife of 55 yeas. Sonny was the cherished father and father-in-law of Carole and Allen Bain. He will always be remembered and missed by grandchildren Ben and Elisa Bain of Toronto. His many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews will have warm memories of good times spent with “Uncle Sonny”. For many years he was a volunteer at Shalom Village and McMaster Hospital, and always had a smile for everyone. Special thanks to Dr. Oliver, Olive, Joyce and Rhona, and all the rest of the staff of Shalom Village for the love, care and compassion shown to Sonny over the past few years. Funeral Service will be held at the United Hebrew Memorial Chapel, 28 Ewen Road at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, Interment to follow at G.O.I. cemetery. Shiva will be at 4000 Creekside Drive Apt. 606, Dundas from 1 – 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. Evenings from 7 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday. Evening services at 7 p.m. Morning services at Beth Jacob. If you wish to honour Sonny’s memory with a donation, contributions to Shalom Village or Beth Jacob Synagogue would be greatly appreciated.
