COHEN, Lee Died peacefully in her bed on January 24, 2013. Born in Hamilton and coy about her age, she was the youngest daughter of Charlotte and Hyman Cohen and the kid sister of Sam, Dave, Joe, Dora, Harriett, Abraham (Nutch) and Mel. She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy (Mel) and an army of nieces and nephews, many of whom are in awe of her accomplishments – Leonard, Skip and Gail, Sandy and David, Susan, Arn, Steven and Dan, Howard (and Barbara-deceased), Debby and Marsha, Harvey Joel, Robbie and Mitchell. Nieces-in-law Maria Reisler, Karen Mclean and Dale Roth were woven in to the fabric of her life. Through visits and photos, she was able to enjoy her vast Cohen family as we added new generations making her an aunt three times over. Strong-willed, passionate, opinionated, Lee was all of those things; they contributed to her being a loyal friend, a caring and engaged aunt and yes sometimes a frustrating critic. An independent woman way ahead of her time, she was a bookkeeper who always worked hard and supported herself. She loved to travel, attend plays, movies and watch Dancing with the Stars. She followed American politics and before she died, she was thrilled to catch President Obama and his wife dancing after the inauguration. Bridge was Lee’s middle name. She was passionate about her games and the friendships that went along with them. Shalom Village is a village and the family would like to express its profound gratitude to everyone there – her old friends and new friends and especially in the past weeks, those who cared for her in a remarkably compassionate and supportive way. She had a good life. There was a private burial. Donations, if you wish, can be made to Shalom Village Foundation, the Bedside Care Program (905) 529-1613 ext 356.
