Peacefully passed at The Hamilton General Hospital with family by her side on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at an age she was proud to say was 101. Daughter to the late Benjamin (Binyamin) and Pearl (Perka) Selick of St. John, NB. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Benjamin Sussman who as a couple built a wonderful life together. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Perry Sussman and his wife Ramona Solomon-Sussman of Brampton, Ontario. Loving Bubby to her grandchildren Amanda Sussman and Daniel Solomon. Loving Sister to Jean Zlatin, and late sisters Mary Finegold and Helen Selick. Loving Sister to her late brothers Morris Selick and David Selick. Ida (Chia) will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and many friends in the community and at her residence in Shalom Village. Ida will always be remembered for her elegance and charm and zest for life. Ida enriched the lives of many and will be truly missed by family and friends. In addition to being a successful homemaker, raising a child and assisting Ben in their family business Crawford Electric, Ida was dedicated to The Temple Anshe Shalom Deborah Sisterhood, The B’nai Brith, Canadian Hadassah-WIZO as well as other community and Jewish organizations. Ida was proud to have lived a full life and always appreciated the love and support from family and friends. Thanks to the team of doctors and nurses at The Hamilton General who came to know Ida very well in the past weeks who took especially good care of her. Special thanks to the Assisted Living Team and caregivers at Shalom Village and heartfelt thanks to the Private Duty team whose support and assistance made such a difference and was much appreciated by Ida and the entire family.
