Beatrice Matchen, beloved mother of Amy and husband Mark Fine, Mark and wife Tammy Genesove, and Bonnie and husband Larry Hyett, died peacefully on Sunday, October 27th, at Shalom Village in Hamilton, Ontario. She was the loving grandmother of Inbal and wife Tom Milbaum and Yonatan Hadad; Ari, Joey and Rafi Matchen; and Emma and Julia Hyett; and great-grandmother to Aviv Milbaum. She was pre-deceased by her husband Chuck, of blessed memory, and her siblings Jacob Brown and Miriam Weinbaum.
Bea was a native of Philadelphia, who never relaxed her attachment to her hometown and American family. She similarly immersed herself in the Jewish community of Hamilton, taking longstanding roles with Beth Jacob Synagogue, the Hamilton Hebrew Academy, McMaster Hospital, Jewish Social Services and other charitable organizations. The family is grateful to the staff of Shalom Village, where she spent her last years in assisted living and then in the nursing home. Special thanks to her wonderful caregiver, Ana Mary Soriano.
The overwhelming love she showed her family and friends will never be forgotten.

Dear Amy, Mark and Bonnie,
Your mother meant so much to our family. She was like the older adoring sister that my father never had. I knew her in my childhood and also got to spend time with her as an adult. She carried deep within her a light of love, kindness and deep caring. I hope her example touches us all, her beautiful spirit still blooming in all of us
May her neshama have an aliyah.
we have only beautiful memories of the time on Bertram Drive with your ganse mishpucha !!!!
you should only know from good health and simchot.
The Rochwerg Family
Mark , Amy and Bonnie and all your families , may Bea’s memory be a blessing to all of you.
She was a charming and warm woman and you all were devoted and loving children to her . What a wonderful example you set for your own children with the care you gave to your Mom.
I was very saddened to hear about Mrs. Matchen Z”L (how I always knew her). She was a great presence on our street – always outside watching “the boys” play, even if it was golfing in her front yard. She used to shuttle myself and Mark to the HHA in her Toyota Corolla (same car my wife drives). Such fond memories of her – she will be missed. May her memory be for a blessing.
Our deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. She was a wonderful woman, great family friend and neighbour. I have many fond memories of her.

Amy, Bonnie and Mark, your mother was a lovely woman.
She was always so pleased when we told her how much Rafi looked like her when he was a little boy.
I remember the day we picked her up at Shalom villiage and went to Shelley and Howie’s cottage with my mother and the two not quite so young women just relaxed and chatted.
May you know no more sorrow.
Dear Mark and Tammy and family, sending condolences at this difficult time. May your mother’s memory be a blessing.
Amy and the rest of the Matchen mishpacha – my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. Losing a Mom is such a difficult loss to endure and I know how much you were devoted to her care and how much you loved her. I know like all great Moms her memory will be a blessing and an inspiration.

My deepest condolences to, Amy, Mark and Bonnie and your families on the passing of your beloved mother. Bea was a wonderful friend to my late mother, especially in their later years when they were both neighbours at Main Street West Condos and then at Shalom Village’s. I enjoyed catching up with Bea when our paths would cross Bea always made time to chat and always was so proud of all her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments . A true Eishat Chayal – A woman of Valour. May her memory be for a blessing.
Bones, my deepest condolences
