ADLER, Solomon / Solly Born in Dashev, Ukraine on August 22, 1914 and arrived in Canada with his parents and siblings in 1919. He was predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Miriam (nee Nicholaefsky), Guelph and Toronto and his brothers, Levi, Jacob (Rose nee Haas), Guelph and Toronto, Harry (Sarah nee Staiman), Hespeler/ Cambridge, Clara (Max Pallant), Acton and Toronto and Ida (Charles) Gillitz, Montreal and his first wife Louise B. Stein, St. Catharines. His passing is mourned by his wife Helen (nee Markusoff) and their children William, Norton (Janet Ruckpal), Lori, Richard (Neal Walters) and his treasured grandchildren; Lindsay (Desan), Harrison, Molly, Leah, Rebecca, Shoshana, Jacob, Emily and Max. He is also mourned by his nieces Beatryce Spiegel and Dorothy Joram and their families, brothers-in-law Fred Gold (late Ruth Gold) and Aaron Markusoff (Shelly) and their families. The family wishes to thank the staff of SV2 at Shalom Village where Solly received exemplary care during his residence. One can only be grateful for the existence of such a facility and the caring staff. He operated Solly’s Men’s Shop – “The shop that ties built”, from 1945 until 1998. His love of people was evident as his customers enjoyed his attention to detail in all that he supplied for them and remained loyal for many years. His business, his family and synagogue were the main stays of his life. Funeral took place at United Hebrew Funeral Chapel, 28 Ewen Road, Hamilton, on Sunday, March 30th at 1:30 p.m. Shiva will be observed until Thursday, April 3rd at 1770 Main Street West daily from 2:00 – 4:00 and for evening prayers 7:30. Memorial donations in Solly’s memory may be directed to Shalom Village or Beth Jacob Congregation.
