Leo Aldoroty

November 6, 1940 – February 27, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leo Aldoroty on February 27, 2025, at Ian Anderson House, the hospice where he selflessly volunteered for 10 years. Born on November 6, 1940, in New York City, Leo lived a life defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his incredible sense of humour, and his strong work ethic.

Leo’s greatest joy was his family, and his love for them was unconditional. He was a devoted husband to Sheila Aldoroty and a proud father to Nick, Steven, and Abby. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Rachel, Reese, Lee, and William and was a beloved father-in-law to Melissa and Laura.

Beyond his family, Leo had a passion for travel, always seeking new experiences and embracing different cultures. He was also deeply committed to giving back to his community, dedicating countless hours to volunteer work, including hospice care, mentoring, and supporting various charitable organizations. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he helped.

Leo is survived by his siblings Sue Turkis, Sara Halper, and Barry Aldoroty, as well as his nieces and nephews Michelle Hanft, Caren Brun, Nathan Matalon, and Nick Halper. He was predeceased by his sister Rose Matalon.

A funeral service will take place at Shaarei-Beth El Synagogue at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 2nd at 186 Morrison Road in Oakville. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service. The burial will take place at a later time.

Shiva Minyan services will be held on Sunday and Monday evening at 7:00 PM, with a final Shiva on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leo’s memory to Ian Anderson House or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Leo’s warmth, laughter, and generosity will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing.
