I have just discovered that Claude Billigheimer passed away. I express my regrets. I met Claude many times through his wife Rachel, who was a colleague of mine in the Northeast Modern Language Association Conference. In fact I am writing a tribute to Rachel to be published in VALA. I would love to have a picture of Rachel and Rachel and Claude. I have learned a lot about them researching my memorial to Rachel.
Anyone who is capable of writing an appreciation of Claude’s achievements as a mathematician could please get in touch with me and I may be able to place a memorial to him in a Mathematics journal published by a friend. My e-mail address is jmcquail@tntech.edu
Hello again relatives and friends of Drs. Rachel and Claude Billigheimer. I would greatly appreciate a photo of them together and especially of Rachel alone for my memorial piece in the online journal Vala.
My friend who edits the Math journal cannot do a memorial piece for Claude but I hope that someone more capable than me of writing a notice for him could find a good Mathematics outlet to announce his passing and his accomplishments.
Again my university e-mail is jmcquail@tntech.edu I first met Rachel in 1992 at the Northeast Modern Language Association conference in which she was very active.
I and my family are deeply saddened that my uncle Claude passed away. At that sad time I myself was in the hospital for weeks due to sepsis and had no idea. He was an outstanding intellectual at the height of his career.
The son of my grandfather Paul Blumenfeld. His sister – my mother Noomi Blumenfeld escaped to England and named me After Claud‘s brother Richard.
I offer my condolences to all who love him. Klaus Blumenfeld Billigheimer of blessed memory.
