Pearl Anne Enkin
1939 – 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pearl Enkin with her loving husband Mel and children by her side. Mother of Lori and Howie Pollock, Brad and Rachel Enkin ,Darren Enkin and Corrine Bloom. Dear sister of Nassa Selwyn and the late Cecil Raels. Proud grandmother of Sondi, Carly, Zachary and Jordi, Shawney, Talia, Joa, Tao and Omi . Predeceased by her mother Sarah Lesk and Mortimer Raels.
In keeping with her passion for helping others ,Pearl earned her RN at Vancouver General hospital, class of 1959. After moving to Hamilton in 1964 she worked at St Joe’s and later as a geriatric nursing supervisor at Wentworth Lodge for 27 years, constantly taking courses to upgrade her nursing skills. Pearl was an avid reader, golfer, gardner and loved entertaining at barbecues with family and friends . Pearl was immensely proud of her grandkids and loved the attention accorded her on many occasions. Despite her work and family responsibilities Pearl made time to volunteer on many community charitable projects under the auspices of the Canadian Cancer society. Pearl spent many hours counseling post mastectomy patients in recovery. Pearl will be fondly remembered by her kind caring and loving nature.
We are grateful for the outstanding care she received at the Juravinsky Cancer Clinic and at Margaret’s Place hospice in Dundas Ontario. If you wish donations will be welcomed in Pearl’s honor at Hamilton Jewish family services food bank and Temple Anshe Shalom.
