I am deeply saddened. Frank treated me like a brother. I remember Joe and Ann, Frank’s parents, invited me for dinner in their home in Toronto. Before we ate, Joe put a kippah on my head, and said a wonderful prayer. I felt like one of the family. I was so honoured. I have never forgotten that. I wanted to visit and recall the time we took my old Caddy convertible to Plevna and drove it on the ice. Great times, Frank was the only one who would ride with me in a ragtop in the middle of winter.
Frank was like his father and mother, kind, decent and caring, and at the same time very professional. Time and events separated us, I shouldn’t have put off calling you. I left the Peel Board to pursue a dream, which happened. I didn’t call, I kept putting it off – I miss you Frank, you were a brother to me in when I taught in Peel.
Deepest Sympathies to Joie, Jourdan and Seth
God Bless them
Frank was my biology teacher in the late 70’s at Glenforest SS. When I became an employee of the Peel Board, we again crossed paths many times. As my teacher and my colleague, I will always remember Frank’s humour, his dedication and his sense of decency. May God bring peace to his family.
We just heard the news by chance and we are speechless.
Sometimes families drifts apart and there really is no explanation.
Frankie and Ron were First Cousins and we always said we’d get together, but we never did. Now we never will. We always saw each other at family simchas and laughed about things we had in common as cousins. We also shared a lot in common as fellow teachers.
We loved his parents dearly too. They were our Aunt and Uncle. Auntie Annie was Ron’s father’s sister.
To Joie and Jackie, our love to you and deep regret for us not knowing and for Frankie being gone too soon. To his children, we say to you that you have some cousins in Toronto you may not know, but we are family and this hits us hard. We send our sincere sympathy and want you to know this pains us too. Make time for those in your life that matter. They may be gone tomorrow. May you know no more sorrow.
Love, Ron and Barbara Gerskup
My sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Frank Gold in Human Resources when he was the OSSTF health and safety rep. He was a great person to work with. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
On behalf of CUPE 1628, I would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the family of Frank Gold. We worked together on Health and safety at the Peel District School Board. Our thoughts are with you at this time.
Dear Joie and Family,
It has been years since we have seen each other but I still feel a very warm bond to my cousin, Frank. Very sad to hear this news.

We were saddened to hear of your great loss….Please accept our deepest condolences….the Chatoff family
My sincere condolences to the family. I came to know Frank through a health and safety project at the Peel District School Board. Coincidentally he came to my mind on Sunday evening for some reason. I admired Frank’s long commitment to health and safety and his love of a practical solution. Above all, I admired his professionalism-an example to us all. I appreciate this is a difficult time and I hope fond memories bring peace and comfort in the days ahead.
I knew Frank both through OSSTF working at District Council and when he was Health and Safety Officer coming to the school. I enjoyed Frank’s sense of humour, his intensity of dedication to do things right for people and respected his knowledge especially around the science lab. He helped us fix many problems. Frank and I would agree to disagree sometimes and more often we would be quite collaborative and choose what I could work on at the school and what he needed to be written up. It is a loss that happens too soon. Condolences to the family and friends.
My condolences to Frank’s family and friends.
I had the pleasure of working with Frank at Clarkson for a number of years.
I shall remember Frank for his irrepressible sense of humour and his tenacity in addressing an issue he deemed important. Often enough, these issues involved
a sense of justice and fair play in our work environment and Frank pursued them
in the interests of his colleagues and ultimately the students.
What a blessing and honour to have known Frank. A Heart of Gold
and a true friend: always ready to help, and to play Scrabble.
The kindnesses over the years and the joy we had when together with Frank and Joie.
Heart is heavy and so sad. Please know that our family shares in your deep sorrow. With love. Marjut and Tap
Dear Joie and family
Sincere condolences on the loss of a wonderful man! Many years of working with Frank at Clarkson S.S. showed all of us his deep caring, intelligence, good humour, and tireless work on behalf of colleagues. As school Health and Safety Rep. in OSSTF over many years, as well as beyond the school while serving as Chair of this committee many times (a position vital to healthy working and learning conditions) Frank was outstanding! He was a wonderful defender of teachers in the classroom, unstinting in his belief in the right to safe working conditions, clean air in our aging schools, and equally strong as a teacher and Head of Science during his 38 years in education. Frank was simply wonderful with students, staff, and administrations in a position which often required the utmost determination. In his years as H&S Chair I believe he did more for staff across the Peel Board than I have seen in my 28 years there. It is his unfailing kindness, consideration, wit, warmth and personal generosity that I will miss most, however. Frank reached across generations, positions, and differences between staff in his unique way, using humour to breach these gaps, and creating many new H&S initiatives which improved our daily lives in schools. Not content with simply retiring, he went on to serve the Occasional Teachers of OSSTF during his own retirement as a continuing member of the executive there. He will be deeply missed! Rest well, dear friend. Thoughts and prayers with Joie and family.
Frank and i got to know each other when we worked together in health and safety at the Peel Board of Education. Frank brought passion and commitment to his role as OSSTF safety representative and I also remember his willingness to laugh and his genuine concern for others. Although Frank and I did not always see eye-to-eye, I never doubted his sincerity or his belief in what he was doing . Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss.
