Anne was one of eight children born and raised in Hamilton by her warm and generous immigrant parents, Mendel and Bella Cohen, from Russia and Poland, respectively.
Devoted, dedicated, and loving wife of the late Leonard Gooblar for 66 years; Anne was a wonderful mother, and will be greatly missed by her children Barbara and Michael; and was loved by her late sons Robert and Howard. She will be missed by her dear sister-in-law, Sylvia Cohen, her daughters-in law Linda Gooblar and Gail Hill, and Gail’s husband Hal Kay.
Anne was cherished by her loving younger sister Sarah Kovalsky of Detroit and her family who gratefully were able to visit at the hospital; her late sisters, Esther Kruger, Mary Small, Gitty Dater, Donna Isenberg, and her late brothers, Sydney (Nini) Cohen and Joseph (Yoshi) Cohen.
She was also the amazing, young-at-heart Bubbie (and best blintzer) of Aron, David, Jonathan, and their respective spouses, Brooke, Katarina, and Myra; Levey, Ruby, Joshua, and Caelan; plus special G.G. to Alice, Lulu, and Joel.
In addition, she was a superstar to all of her many adoring nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who made a special point of visiting from near and far just to be in her presence or sending cards, letters, pictures, and calling her. There was nothing more special than to be treated so royally by all.
She had so many good friends of all ages that lit up her life. They just seemed to be drawn to her gentle, kind, down-to-earth ways, and her baked goods.
The family would like to thank all of Anne’s devoted caregivers: Marilyn, Josephine, Mercedes, Lloyda, Krisha, and Bea, who cared for her as if she was their own mother and whom she cared for as her children; to Emma for making all the arrangements and never letting the family down; to all of the wonderful Shalom staff and friends; and to a very special friend, Christine, for her loving generosity.
When you look up at the moon and stars, think of Anne.
The family will be observing a private family Shiva due to Covid restrictions.
Charitable donations in Anne’s memory can be made to Shalom Village
