Dodo and I were close to Rabbi Green when we lived in Hamilton before coming on aliyah to Israel although we were members of Beth Jacob. We were very shocked to learn of his illness and passing.
To the Green Family:
I was so very saddened to hear of Rabbi Green’s petira. I had a very long history of him over the years…as a teenager…babysitting for his kids and Rabbi Herbie Millan’s kids…sometimes together in those early days. Given my time spent with both Rabbi’s..I began to go the the teenage organization there, Y.U.S.Y. (Yeshiva University Synagogue Youth) the pre-curser of NCSY. even though my family belonged to Beth Jacob Shul…they recognized that my own personal lifestyle was geared more to Orthodox Judaism and they helped to encourage that choice. Years later, my son, Yonathan (Yoni) went to the Hamilton Yeshiva (Rabbi’s Green’s personal baby) and I got to know him on another level, as a parent of a yeshiva high school student. I always admired Rabbi Green, of blessed memory. May his family be comforted with all the Mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and know no more sorrow. He will be a further light in Gan Eden and on a certain level, I share his loss with you his loved ones and Klal Yisroel. May your memories sustain you for all time.
