HALPREN, Murray Roger
September 29, 1940 – November 13, 2021
Sadly, we announce Murray’s passing. He will be sorely missed by his devoted wife Hyndi and by his two sons, Mark and David, and their wives Lisa and Leah as well as by his four loving grandsons Max, Ryan, Samuel and Joshua. Murray will also be dearly missed by his sister Ilsa and her husband Jeff Blidner and by Murray’s many nieces and their families.
Murray was born in Hamilton and received his formal education at McMaster University. He pursued a long-standing career in accountancy and was partner at Ernst & Young and its predecessor firm Clarkson Gordon. Murray was actively involved in the Hamilton community and was called upon by many community organizations for his leadership skills. Among his many involvements were his roles with Hamilton organizations including Chedoke-McMaster Foundation, Temple Anshe Sholom Hamilton, Beverly Golf & Country Club and in Florida with Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club.
Murray had a lifelong passion for sports both as a player and as a spectator. In his youth, he excelled at basketball and honed those skills at Camp Kawagama where he was affectionately known as “Hammer Head”. In later years, Murray’s sport of choice was golf. He very much enjoyed his games with his ‘regulars’ at the Beverly and in Florida at Naples Heritage, where the family spent time together.
Murray was very fortunate to have cultivated several very longstanding friendships and those deep connections served him throughout his life. He valued these ties always, despite separation by distance and more recently by his ill health.
The family would like to extend appreciation to his wonderful caregivers over the past while.
A private graveside funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 16th at 11 a.m.   Private shiva.
To honour Murray’s memory, a donation to Temple Anshe Shalom in Hamilton (905-528-0121) or to the Melanoma Network of Canada (877-560-8035) would be appreciated.
