HOUSTON, Doris With sadness we announce the passing of Doris Houston (nee Weinrib) on December 22, 2011, at the Hamilton General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Poland on May 1, 1919, she immigrated at a young age with her family to Dublin, Ireland, a place she loved and always called home. Over the years she and “Dr. Fred” lived in Ireland and England before moving to Canada in 1957, residing first in New Brunswick before settling in 1963 into a long life in Hamilton. Together they raised two daughters, Sandra (Gil) living now in New Brunswick and Jacquie in Toronto. Doris was the grandmother of Nicola, Jennifer (Neil) and Erica, and great-grandmother of Gemma. A heartfelt thanks goes to the staff at Shalom Village Apartments where she was a well liked resident for six years. And a special thank you to Anna and Aunt Tessie.
