The Honourable Abraham Mandel
July 27, 1930 – December 22, 2022
Born in Hamilton to the late Harry & Eva Mandel. Abe was the youngest of 8 children. Predeceased by Samuel, Morris, Rose (Taub), Joseph, Betty, (Appel), Jack, and Bertha (Stone). Abe is survived by his wife Sari (nee Steinberg). Becoming a lawyer was his ambition from an early age. Abe attended McMaster University, then on to Osgood Hall, consistently on scholarships, where he won a silver medal upon graduating law. Abe was a lone practitioner in Hamilton until 1978 when he was appointed to the bench in Toronto which became known as The Ontario Superior Court where he was a highly respected jurist. Upon his retirement in 2005, he returned to the Hamilton area and enjoyed many years in the old home town.
