I am sure that no-one will see this message. It is so late in being sent.
I remember Maxi as a kid visiting the chicken roost….and as an adult I came to know Maxi and respect him. He had the most amazing wife and accomplished daughters. I played bridge with Milli and Samieth and got a lot of wise counsel from them. Occasionally, Maxi would be at Milli’s and I was always drawn to his sense of humor and love for his family. I moved in the same circles as Maxi and Samieth and watched their devotion to each other and to their family. One day I saw Cynthia at a party she was catering and I remarked at how beautiful she was to Maxi…..to which he replied, “as beautiful as her mother and sisters.” What a guy. He knew what he had. He was a contented man. I wish I had seen him before he died. I still have the chance to see Samieth and I intend to do just that….visit her when the covid virus permits and just talk about the old times.. I have lived away from Canada for many years and would love to see old friends before they join Maxi.
Joanne, I’m just now learning of your dad’s passing. What a loss. He was one-of-a-kind. I fondly remember many dinners at Maxwell’s with my family. And as a child attending Binkley School I recall coming to your Westpark house for lunch occasionally and seeing your dad, always with his mind on something bigger than our young minds could comprehend.
I also remember seeing you in the late ’90s at a restaurant in Westdale. You looked just the same as I remembered — and your mischievous laugh hadn’t changed a bit.
Thinking of you and your family,
Julie Gordon (Woolf)
Hi Julie,
I doubt that my sister got this message, I just happened to be looking up something today. We appreciate your thoughts and everything you said about my Dad and about Joanne having her special laugh is so true. I will pass on your message.
Not sure if you will ever get this, let’s hope.
Stay safe and enjoy each day.
Cynthia ( Joanne’s sister)
A life well lived,a life to be celebrated. He generously took the time to help me many years ago, his knowledge was very valuable. All would agree he had an incredible mind for business, and a deep love of people.
To all of Max’s (Mr. Mintz to me) family:
So many memories; so many laughs. He was one-of-a kind. For sure he, Bill and Harold are catching up on old times.
With much love,
Jan Schreiber and family.
