He lived by the mantra “here for a good time, not a long time” and passionately lived by it every day of his life. There was only one Sonny Netkin and anyone lucky enough to have been part of his journey will be left with many wonderful and cherished memories. My memories of Sonny , as I grew up in Westfalen Hamilton were of Sonny coming to the football stadium in his really lavish fur coat . He looked great in it ! Love to the Netkin family ! Allan Kain .
I was saddened to read of Mr. Netkin’s death. My memories of Sonny go back a long time to when I was 14 years old and a caddy at Beverly Golf Club. Sonny would see me at the clubhouse and always call my name to be his caddy. I will always remember his warm smile and his generosity throughout the many times we traversed those 18 holes. I am now 67 and I can see him vividly in my memory. I smile when I think of him. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Paul DeLottinville

Baruch Dayen Emet. I remember Mr. Netkin from my days in Hamilton as a child and later as a young adult and he’d come into the bank that I worked in, CIBC, in Westdale and he was always pleasant and polite to a teenage bank teller. I knew who he was in the community…but I doubt that he knew me as a Hamilton jewish girl. I always remember he was in the bannana business. Funny how certain things stick with you through the years. His Neshama should have an aliyah in Shomayim and his family should be comforted with all the mourners of Zion and know no more sorrow.
