I just learned of the passing of Harold. My Sister Carold Hartley and I met him and talked with him at a family get together several years ago.
Harold was a warm and very intelligent young man who loved my Mother Sylvia Hartley Keshen who passed many years ago. Harold will be sadly missed but as the Torah indicates that we will see Harold
again because all men will be brought back to life before God’s Throne as in Ezekiel 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves and shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land, then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken and performed it.
I was so sad for you and the ‘children’, to read of Harold’s passing. May thr good memories sustain you Jo-Ann. I send my condolences and wishes for Long Life.
My wife Ahuva and I met Jo-Ann and Harold maybe 15 years ago on a Caribbean cruise. It didn’t take long to discover that we’re both ardent Zionists, and we immediately began sharing articles, commentary and resources virtually everyday up until Harold was hospitalized in April 2023. The pages of information we shared over our many years of mutual advocacy could easily be measured in the thousands, if not tens of thousands.
I listened to the rabbi’s eulogy of Harold with a heavy heart, but in addition to being first and foremost a loving husband and proud father and grandfather, you should know that not only within but beyond his community, Harold was a passionate defender of the State of Israel and the Jewish People. A voice like Harold’s which spoke with such clarity and conviction is very rare, and with his passing the nation of Israel has lost a true champion.
My wife and I are heartbroken that he is gone, and to Jo-Ann and her entire family we send our most sincere sympathies.
May his memory be a blessing. זיכרונו לברכה.
My cousin Harold was a fine man, wise and caring, and an all round good guy. I will miss his infectious laugh. Please accept my deepest condolences. Sending you many hugs, Carole Hartley.
Dear Joanne, Lori and family and Michael and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences. Sending all of you love and strength.
Carolyn
Kindest possible wishes to Joanne. Delightfully good-humoured…supremely decent…generous hearted…ultra-knowledgeable…courageously forthright…brilliantly insightful…and the sincerest of gentlemen was Harold. We had the great fortune of knowing Harold for only a few years but what a remarkable gift to have known such a remarkable man.
I have never met Harold Pomerantz or his family…. But I wanted them to know that I very much enjoyed his letters to the Spectator over the years. I didn’t always agree with his views but did appreciate his taking time to offer his valid takes on the happenings of the day. My sincere sympathy goes to his family.
Love and support Joanne. We will miss him and his wonderful sense of humour. We are here for you.
Love and support, Joanne. Harold will now be pain free. We will miss his sense oi humour especially on Wednesday afternoons. We are all here to support you.
Dear Jo-Ann, Michael and Lori,
We were saddened to hear of Harold’s passing. He was such a lovely, warm man and the nicest of neighbours.
Our thoughts are with you all. May your lifetime of happy memories together bring you comfort during this time, and live on in the stories of your family.
