Ray died peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Shalom Village. She was 98, the beloved wife of the late Howard Rosenberg; loving mother and mother-in-law of Larry and Jay, and Mark and Audrey; the doting and loving grandmother of her granddaughter Morgan. Our mom was a splendid lady.
Special thanks to her many caregivers through her years of dementia. Memorial donations may be made to Shalom Village (www.shalomvillage.ca) or the charity of your choice.
Mark and Larry,
Your family was very much a part of my world growing up in Hamilton. I remember many good times hanging out at each other’s homes. Your mother was always so gracious and welcoming, even hosting an engagement tea for me. Ray was a good friend of my mother, Raella. I know they shared good times and good conversations, offering each other ‘sage’ advice on important matters of the day.
May her memory be for a blessing.
Hi Lynn
I know this is a little late in coming. However with our mom’s unveiling soon upon us, thank you for the kind words for our mom. Indeed your mom was ever a dear and cherished friend to ours. Their bond extended beyond them toward mutual affection between the two families.

Larry & Mark
Mark and Larry, this marks the passing of not only a fine woman but of an era. Your home on bond street was my second. Ray remains in my thoughts a welcoming, warm and kind person. I wish you and your families loving kindness.
Dear Larry and Mark,
So many wonderful memories come to mind as I think back to our “Leave it to Beaver” world on Bond Street. The “bond” is unbreakable. Your mother’s grace and beautiful smile will never be forgotten. It was wonderful to see her at Shalom Village and I like to think that somewhere in her mind she recognized both my mother and me. Her smile is what made me realize it was her. I never connected before that your radiant smiles were passed down to you from her. So, keep smiling as you think back to all of the wonderful memories you shared together. May her memory be a blessing. With love, Barb Gooblar (38 Bond)
The world has lost a true lady. A woman of class. Aunt Ray was a true matriarch. A matriarch of not just her immediate family, but also of her extended family on both sides. As we were growing up, each pasuch the question was whether to have her side of the family on the first night and Howard’s family on the second night, or vice versa. I never really paid attention, but i think, in retrospect that she simply alternated each year. She brought the entire family together with style.
In my case, she even catered to my “special” dietary habits and when I was writing my medical exams in Hamilton and my plans were simply to commute back and forth from Toronto to Hamilton, she would not hear of it. She welcomed me into her home with grace and elegance.
They broke the mold after making her…
