1922-2020, 98 years young. Myra passed away from COVID-19 in Hamilton, on December 24, and was buried December 25th. Myra was born in Toronto to Abraham and Sadie Willinsky and was one of the first five women to graduate in physiotherapy from the University of Toronto. Myra was predeceased by her husband of thirty-five years, Dr. Norman Simon, who passed away in 1991. Myra leaves behind her three sons, Peter (late Rena), Michael (Dora), Paul (Diane) and granddaughters, Katerina, Mercedes, Sadie and Gina. We all enjoyed her sharp wit and sense of humour. Sharing a glass of wine with Myra would be the highlight of anyone’s day. Myra was a gifted gourmet cook and a wonderful baker whose lemon meringue pie was second to none. Other hobbies included pottery which she took so seriously she built a studio in the basement with its own wheel and kiln. One of Myra’s favourite activities was spending time at the Dundas Valley School of Art. Her friends and family all admire and cherish their pieces of pottery and Myra’s artistry. Myra leaves behind other family members and friends too numerous to mention. Myra’s favourite expression and one we should all live by is: “The show must go on”.
