Date of death: August 15, 2024

A Chapel service will be held on Sunday August 18, 2024 at 1:00pm, United Hebrew Memorial Chapel,  28 Ewen Road,  Hamilton.
Interment will follow at the Temple Anshe Sholom Cemetery,  427 Limeridge Road East, Hamilton.

It is with great sadness that the family of Sheila Burman announce her passing on August 15th 2024. Pre-deceased by her husband of 60 years, David Burman. Sheila was a prominent member of the Hamilton Jewish community who will be remembered for her tireless contributions to the community at large including her legacy with being one of the founders and instrumental in the building and operating of Shalom Village.

Sheila’s dedication and generosity to her family and friends was immeasurable. She was happiest in her garden or reading a good novel as well as her travelling around the world.

Sheila was born an only child in Blackpool England and spent her formative years in the UK having then immigrated to Canada in 1956 with her husband David where they started a family and careers.

Sheila (Nee Peters) will be missed dearly by her daughter Gillian (Kim), her sons Geoffrey (Janice) and Stephen (Jinky), her grandchildren Jeremy, Elise (Brandon), Joshua (Pietra), Savanna, Samuel, and Alexandra, her great-grandchildren Mya and Cooper, and her partner, Leo Strub.

Shiva will be held Sunday Aug 18, Monday Aug 19 and Tuesday August 20 at 64 Academy Street,  Ancaster.

  1. Condolences to the whole family on the loss of your beautiful, kind and special matriarch. Sheila was an incredible woman and a very good friend to my mom and dad back in the day and until the end. So friendly and generous with her friendship and time. She will be missed. May her memory be for a blessing.
