Date of death: April 30, 2024
Henry Vine was born and raised in Hamilton Ontario, and is survived by
the love of his life, Donna Latner, to whom he was married for 66 years.
Henry, aged 90, passed away on April 30th, 2024. His parents, Lazar
Vine and Rochel Goldblatt, instilled in him many admirable traits:
dignity, quiet strength, a deep sense of principle, and a love of
community. Henry developed a genuine and enduring respect for those
around him. Through him, Henry’s children, Leslie, David, Lawrence,
and Natalie, were imbued with these same qualities, and he was forever
an inspiration to his sisters, Goldie Newman and Elaine Vine, in their
lives and pursuits. Henry studied to be a Chartered Accountant at the
urging of his parents, and was Senior Partner in the accounting practice
that he founded in 1965. The firm was highly regarded throughout the
Hamilton region, eventually becoming Vine and Partners in the 1970s. He
was esteemed as a Trustee in Bankruptcy, helping countless clients over
the years to navigate times of financial difficulty. Henry and Donna
have always been proud and active members of Hamilton’s Jewish
community, and they’ve been part of the Beth Jacob congregation for
decades. A life-long golf enthusiast, he never quite made the cut on
the Seniors’ Tour.
Henry adored his four children and always
supported them in the pursuit of their life goals. He cherished his
five grandchildren, Meredith, Adam, Avery, Annika, and Danel, all of
whom had a loving and caring relationship with their Zaidi. Henry was
the rock upon which this family was built, guiding us all, and helping
to make the world a wiser and warmer place.

Mrs Vine
I know you have lost the love of your life. Mr Vine was a wonderful boss, who I enjoyed working for. He had this special spark about him that just made him a pleasure to work for. Many times I would run into the two of you at Fortinos, and because of the man he was, I would take the time to check in.
May he now be at peace.
Dear Donna, Leslie, David, Lawrence, Natalie, Elaine and Goldie,
Henry was a very dear cousin to our late Mom, Sara (zl). Henry and Sara grew up together amongst a large group of special and close-knit cousins who remain connected to this day by the sense of love and family that they were raised in.
On behalf of the Hennick family, we extend our sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear Henry, and may you know no more sorrow.
Love, Jay, Resa, Ellen and Adam and Families
Dear Mrs. Donna Vine: It was very sad to hear of Henry’s passing. My sincere sympathies to you and your family. However I was reminded of many interesting and pleasant memories of numerous business and personal conversations during which it was a joy to see his smile when talking of you and your family. And always, always such a gentleman.
To the Vine and Latner family my sincere condolences for the loss of your beloved Henry

Dear Vine Family
Growing up down the street from you Donna and Henry always felt like my second set of parents. Donna, Leslie, David, Larry and Natalie I am sending you my sincerest condolences at this difficult time. Wishing all of you only good things in life.
To my dearest Donna, Elaine, Goldie, and other members of the family: Henry was a remarkably kind and decent human being, who served many of us as a primary link between the older members of the Goldblatt family, who had their roots in pre-war Europe, and its younger members, who were born in Hamilton and made their way in the new world of Canada. I shall never forget how much Henry helped my father in moments of crisis; and later, he would do the same for me. May his cherished memory be a blessing and provide you with some comfort at this time; and may his many good deeds ease the pain of your bereavement.
Dear Natalie,
I am so sorry for you and your families loss.
