FREEDMAN, Mel On Saturday, January 28, 2012, at age 71, beloved husband of the late Sheila Freedman. Devoted partner of Debbie Matheus. Loving father of Amy (JonArno) and Mark (Kristi). Adoring Zaeda to Sophie, Jacob, Zoe, Ashey and Joseph. Dear brother of Arnold (Myrna Freedman) and brother-in-law of Gerald and Fran Kirsh. Son of the late Harry and Clara Freedman, of Brantford. Mel, a true gentleman, was always willing to lend a hand to help others. He had a passion for books and learning. He lived a life committed to education, the Jewish community, but most of all to his family. We are grateful to all those who have provided care and support to Mel and the whole family. Funeral was held on Monday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m., United Hebrew Memorial Chapel; 38 Ewen Road; Hamilton. Interment Beth Jacob Cemetery, Hamilton. Shiva continues to be observed at 545 Arlington Avenue, Toronto, on Friday, February 3rd, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 4th, at 6:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Congregation Darchei Noam Hebrew School, Toronto (416-638-4783) or Congregation Keneseth Israel Hebrew School, Philadelphia (215-887-8704).
