Temple Anshe Sholom mourns the passing of Rabbi Jordan D. Cohen

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rabbi Jordan D. Cohen. Rabbi Cohen served as the spiritual leader of Temple Anshe Sholom for 20 years. He generously shared his passion for Jewish learning, his wise leadership, and his caring presence, not only with the Temple but with the broader Jewish community. Before landing in Hamilton, Rabbi Cohen served liberal congregations around the world and as an esteemed teacher and leader in the field of adult education. He touched many lives, marrying couples, comforting mourners, visiting the sick, and guiding people on their Jewish journeys.

Our condolences go out to Rabbi Cohen’s son, Zachary (Katie), his sister, Wendie, and his granddaughter, Abigail, along with Paula Baruch and her children, Jacob, Rebekah , Samuel, Noah, and their partners.

A Temple service will be held on Wednesday October 14th,  2:00pm at Temple Anshe Sholom, 215 Cline Avenue North, Hamilton.   Interment following at the Temple Anshe Sholom Cemetery, 427 Limeridge Road East, Hamilton.

He was always a thoughtful soul with a cheery side that we all loved. I have some wonderful memories of our youth together. May Jordan’s memory be a blessing.

  4. We are incredibly saddened to learn of Rabbi Cohen’s passing. Though only members of Temple Anshe Sholom for the last six years, Rabbi Cohen supported us through several life milestones. He was there for us to facilitate our chanukat habayit ceremony when we bought our first home, he supported us through the loss of a beloved grandmother and later the loss of our daughter, and he officiated our son’s bris. His wisdom, kindness, and compassion ran deep, and we are forever grateful to have had him shepherd us through some of our greatest joys and sorrows. May his memory be for a blessing.
