A graveside service will be on Monday August 25, 2025,  11am at Temple Anshe Sholom Cemetery, 427 Limeridge Road East, Hamilton.

August 10, 1946 – August 13, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce that Carl died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, after a fall.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Schon; his children Kate Davis (Sonny Banerjee), Saul Davis (Celine Cressman), and Meredith Davis (Thomas Krzyzanowski) from his marriage to Jane Glassco; his step-son Michael Hellwig; and his grandchildren Sonia, Reuben and Louis Banerjee, Maeve Cressman, Rex Davis, Sadie and Oscar Krzyzanowski.

He leaves his brothers Peter Davis and Daniel Davis.

Pre-deceased by his father David Davis (1956) and Pearl Davis (1999).

Carl was known for his irreverent sense of humour, his generosity (particularly toward his nieces and nephews, whom he adored) and his dedication to reading the death notices. He will be missed.

Shiva will be at his home after the interment, and Tuesday and Wednesday 6-9.

  1. I am saddened and shocked Denise, so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace 🙏🏾

  2. We were so saddened to hear about Carl passing. He was our next door neighbour for many years on Howland Avenue. A great neighbour and a great friend over the years. We may not have seen Carl in quite some time but we hold him fondly in our memories. Our deepest condolences to his family.
    Much love,

  3. I am so saddened and shocked to hear about Carl’s passing. We were good friends during our teenage years; even at that early age, I recognized his witty sense of humour, intelligence, and generosity of spirit. May his memory be a blessing to you all.

  4. Very sad news. Too soon.

Carl was one of a kind. A person of uncommon integrity without being the least bit stuffy. A steadfast friend to friends and acquaintances alike. A keen sense of both baloney and the absurd. Fun-loving. And a truly great lawyer without an ounce of arrogance. We won’t see his like again soon — if ever.
