Funeral will be on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 at 11:00 am at The United Hebrew Memorial Chapel, 28 Ewen Road, Hamilton.

Interment will be at G.O.I. 2, 1250 Snake Road, Burlington.

Manuel Albert (Manny) FINE

FINE, Manuel Albert (Manny) 1929 – 2018 Just four months shy of his 90th birthday, Manuel (Manny) Fine succumbed to infection in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. His loving wife of 67 years, Ruth and his two devoted daughters, Brenda Willis and Elaine Levine (Michael) were by his side. Manny was predeceased by his son Edwin and his parents Sam and Sophie as well as in-laws Ada and Kiva Strom. He also leaves behind five beautiful grandchildren, Steven Willis (Kelly), Jenna Willis (Aaron Huber), Lauren Levine (Daniel Thorpe), Zachariah Levine and Shari Levine and one sister, Bernice Freedman (Louis) as well as seven nieces and nephews. A distinguished member of the University of Toronto’s Engineering Hall of Fame, Manny enjoyed a stellar 60-year career as a Civil Engineer, including serving as: President of Berminghammer Deep Foundation Specialists, Vice President of Bermingham Foundations Specialists (Hamilton), Executive Director of the Heavy Construction Association of Ontario, and the President of the Deep Foundations Institute. He also founded the Deep Foundations Magazine, known as Fulcrum and took great pride in the outstanding publication he developed. His achievements did not stop with his work as an engineer. He also led the Garth Trails Shared Facilities Committee through their transition to ownership, he acted as Treasurer of the Temple Anshe Sholom as well as the B’nai Brith Bowling Leagues and the Chevra Club in Hamilton. He spent many years as the Nobel Master of the Grand Order of Israel in both Toronto and Hamilton. Manny was a dedicated volunteer for the Hamilton Jewish Federation and the Jewish National Fund. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the United Hebrew Memorial Chapel, 28 Ewen Road, Hamilton. Shiva will be held at the family home at 25 Mapleleaf Trail in Hamilton on Wednesday, December 5th from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, December 6th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and Friday, December 7th from 2 – 4 p.m. Services will take place at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Manuel Fine Scholarship Fund can be made at: http://www.dfi.org/trust/scholarships.asp?fine and are greatly appreciated.
