Date of death: November 22, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and abiding love that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Melville (née Elkin), in her 78th year. She passed away peacefully on November 22, surrounded by family, following a long and brave battle with cancer.
Jacqueline leaves behind her devoted husband of 55 years, Brian, who remained her steadfast companion through every chapter of their life together, and their two daughters, Heidi and Naomi (Peter). She is also survived by her 102 year old mother, Joy Elkin (née Coen), her brother Garry, and sister Deborah (Louis). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Brianna, Shayna (Tyler), Talia, and Samara, who were her greatest pride and joy, and by her nephew David (Nina), niece Simone (Eric), and her grand nieces and nephew, Hannah, Noah, Romi, Ava and Brooke, whom she adored. She is predeceased by her brother, Joel Z”L.
Jacqueline had a lifelong passion for exercise. Fitness brought her joy, energy, and a sense of accomplishment. She cherished her time at “the club” with her close friends, whose encouragement and friendship made those moments some of the happiest parts of her days.
Jacqueline’s legacy is one of perseverance. She leaves behind memories that will forever be held close, and a family who will continue to honour her strength and resilience.
Our sincere gratitude goes to Jenna French, Nurse Practitioner from Halton Healthcare’s Palliative Care Team, the caring, patient, and attentive nursing staff on 6S at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, and to Dr. Deborah Marshall at the Milton District Hospital for their compassionate care and guidance. A graveside funeral will be held on Wednesday November 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Beth Jacob Cemetery, 1250 Snake Road, Burlington. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to 821 Yates Drive, Milton until 5 pm, and again from 7-9pm. The Shiva will continue on Thursday from 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm, and on Friday from 10:30-3:30 pm. Brian, Heidi, Naomi and family,
Sorry to hear about Jackie’s passing. I remember her and the family fondly from your days at Solel. Then the odd time I would bump into Jackie in Milton when we were attending grandchildren functions. The last time was at the Velodrome. Sending our condolences to you all. May her memory be a blessing.
Diane and Rick Adler
I’m deeply saddened to hear about Jackie’s passing. I have so many fond memories of her from Club Meadowvale and Fusion over the past 14 years. Jackie was a true community builder, always bringing people together and creating connections. She touched so many lives, and her warmth and spirit will be greatly missed.
My sincere condolences to you Naomi. If I can do something, I will be pleased to help you. See you soon at school
Jackie, the spin bike front and centre will always be yours. You never missed a class — even driving from Milton to Brampton in the worst snowstorms. On the days I didn’t feel like going to the gym, I knew you’d already be there, and that always pushed me to show up.
Your smile lit up the room, and I loved hearing your stories about your daughters and granddaughters — they were truly your pride and joy. You are missed every single day. When I walk into the gym now, I see it differently because of you. It was your happy place, and it will always remind me of your strength and kindness.
I miss you, Jackie. Wishing your family comfort, strength, and guidance as they navigate this difficult time.
Jackie, was a wonderfully warm and accepting member of our gym she will be missed.
