A private graveside service will take place on November 27, 2025, 11:00 am at Pardes Shalom Cemetery, Temple Sinai Section, 10953 Dufferin Street, Vaughan.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gersh Sone, born July 3rd, 1936. Gersh was the son of Max and Lilly Sone. Brother to the late Charlotte and Blackie Hoffman and and the late Brenda Kroach and Murray Kroach.
Deeply cherished by his wife, Dianne, with whom he shared 38 special years. Loving father to Karen and Tom Kofman, Andrew Sone and Ronna Dillon. Proud Zadie to Hanna Kofman and Jeff Couse, Joshua (Eddie) Kofman, Elyse Kofman, and Maxx Sone and Megan McConaghy. Great-grandfather to Arthur, Mory and Makiko.
Gersh was very close with his step children: Tracey Pegg, Matthew Pegg, Charlotte and Gregg Jobb, Jane Pegg and Alan Gilchrist. Proud Zadie to Colby, Abigai and Liam. Great grandfather to Emma.
The last few years were a struggle as he faced Alzheimer’s. But to his credit he remained stoic through it all and passed peacefully .
Gersh had a passion for sports, excelling at skiing, tennis and golf. He loved music (particularly Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond), reading and writing. He travelled all over the world capturing sights with his camera and compiling his photos in albums with detailed annotations. In addition to his passion for photography, he also dabbled in poetry. Gersh loved his family and sharing holiday dinners together. He loved life’s simple pleasures, sitting outdoors and feeling nature warm his soul.
Gersh’s warmth, loving heart, and curiosity will live on through all who knew and loved him.
